Hope Child Development (Desarrollo Infantil)
Desarrollo Infantil (Child Development) is similar to an American preschool for 4 year olds. Our intent was to give the mothers in the colonia a break by taking care of their kids for two hours. They received a snack, a Bible lesson, sing songs, do crafts, etc. It worked! Today, Monday through Friday, we have a class of twenty-five 4-5 year olds in the morning and another class of twenty-five in the afternoon. Their fine motor skills are not developed because they don’t grow up with all the toys and gadgets our kids play with in the States. They are getting ready to read and write and have a chance to become part of Hope Academy English or Spanish Tutoring.
About the Program
Hope Academy Desarrollo Infantil is free to those children who qualify in the area. They get help to develop to the point of entering a Kindergarten or our English Tutoring. These precious kiddos learn the basics of manners, obedience and responsiblity. They get a start in their education that most of those on the mountain don’t have access to. It’s amazing how fast they learn when they have the chance!
Many of you are looking for a place to give at the end of the year and our Hope Academy Desarrollo Infantil Program is the perfect place. Fifty children are mentored and loved by the teachers and staff of this great program. We are seeing such a huge difference in these children.
How You Can Help

General Program Support
Hope Desarrollo Infantil needs general support for the expenses of this program. There is no individual student sponsorship because this is the first year of participation for these students. We want to be sure they can make it through the program before we ask you to sponsor them long term. However, since this is a free opportunity for them, we still have to purchase books, and supplies, pay the teachers,teachers and basic expenses.
